Fighting for what she wants is nothing new for Maria. The oldest of four siblings, it may well be that resolving childhood conflicts and arguing her point led to Maria becoming an attorney. As part of an immigrant family establishing its life in the United States, Maria grew up watching her parents found and develop their own successful business. Inspired by their hard work and values, she prioritized her education and attained a BA, MBA, and JD degree, never losing her values and focus. A budding entrepreneur herself, Maria helped her parents manage their business, and later focused on legal issues as her area of expertise.

Keen on helping others and building new relationships, Maria volunteered in various community organizations including the Global Network Community Development Corporation, where she currently sits on the board, and the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, working in various capacities to fight for the rights of those less fortunate. In her spare time, Maria focuses on community outreach and providing economic and financial education for Chicago residents, helping them to reach their full potential.

After long days in the office, you may catch Maria running along the lakefront, training for her next race, or enjoying an espresso in her favorite coffeehouse. A Nutella crepe doesn’t hurt either.
